A clock-builder creates a machine that anybody can use when given the knowledge on how to do so.
A time-teller needs to be present and active for anybody to know what’s going on.
Telling the time will give you a quick high, everyone likes to be the expert, the person who solves the problem.
The problem is that this is not sustainable, take the time-teller out of the picture and the entire organization crumbles.
Ask yourself often, is this solution building my clock, or am I telling the time?
Firefighting and solving problems is easy, the difficult, real work is putting something is place so that you don’t have to anymore.
